I am a UCSD undergraduate pursuing a degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. My work focuses on protozoan parasites, namely Entamoeba histolytica and Naegleria fowleri, which cause persisting global health problems. At CDIPD, my goal is to identify optimized lead compounds to combat amebiasis and primary amebic meningoencephalitis, caused by E. histolytica and N. fowleri, respectively.

I was previously involved in projects at the UCSD Department of Pharmacology on mitochondrial dysfunction and worked on various projects involving stem cells at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine. I am one of UCSD’s Frontiers of Innovation Scholars Program (FISP) undergraduates for 2017-2018 under the mentorship of Dr. Anjan Debnath at the CDIPD.
